Has anyone from Victoria applied for a permit to be exempt from the current restrictions for the purposes of delivering a yacht? If so, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Kinora

I imagine it might be quite hard to make a delivery sound "emergency" enough to get an official ok.

My advice: wait a week.
The infection rate is coming down fast, and the restrictions are up for review early next week. Wait one week, and maybe/hopefully/probably we'll be back in stage 3.
This CV will end sometime, and is likely to be soon.

Where to?

I need to get mine relocated from Melbourne to Brisbane and decided to wait a few more weeks to see how things pan out.
When I looked into it a little while back you could get exempt from quarantine if you'd stayed on the yacht the entire time and not go on land, 14 days that is. If you're short of the 14 days you'd have to make up the rest of the days in a hotel. But you still need permission upfront. There were a few yachts that did that.
Kind of like the Simonds dude on his super yacht, but make sure you don't have paparazzi's following you and snapping pics while you sneak on shore for a beer.

jev7337,

My own boat has been languishing at Pittwater since May, waiting until we can do the delivery trip to Gippsland Lakes in December or January depending on restrictions and crew (my sons) availability. The skipper for that trip, an old friend, invited me to do a delivery from Paynesville to Hobart with him and the experience would have been worth the bureaucratic nightmare (Paynesville is Regional Victoria, different restrictions and a little easier for him to leave). Unfortunately, it turns out the boat to be delivered is a 43' motor boat he describes as "ugly" and the trip shrank to 1 or 2 days at a noisy 17 kts. He now advises waiting until the delivery of my own boat ...

I'm going to persevere with Business Victoria and DHHS for a while longer, though. I'm interested to see what, if any, process is in place.

Good luck with your trip to Brisbane!

And many thanks, as always, to all the other respondents.

Cheers,
Kinora
