The new jetty at Valentine, Lake Mac, is too high for by boat and I want to do some work on the boat when tied up.
Apparently they had a lot of complaints, so they placed a lower bumper on the pileons(?spelling).
Only problem is it is back from the top bumper, so my railings would hit the top bumper. It looks to be about 200 - 300mm back from the top one. So more than my fenders are in diameter.
Has anyone that uses the jetty come up with a solution. Any short stumpy fenders out there? I have checked the local sail shop and 300mm fenders are 900mm long.

Can't help you with your query (use your fenders on the top) but does the new jetty go out any deeper??

Usually around 2m I think.
I'm 1.5m.
But the lake has been very low lately and apparently a few of the bigger boats have hit bottom.

Expanding on Lydia's suggestion of the fender board, you could have 2 fenders to space off the horizontal fender board from the boat. Then you could have another 2 fenders to space off the fender board from the jetty bumper.
Can you set up springers?
To hold your boat of the jetty?

This is what I have come up with also. I just have to buy 2 new fenders.
I have also thought of using conduit instead of a board. IE tying the fenders either side of 2 pieces of conduit. Making it light and easy to put over the side.

Lake Macquarie is actually becoming deeper every year even without "global warming " current longwall mining has a subsidence of up to half a metre.

If you have one springer going from the bow of your boat to the dock close to the stern of your boat, and then another springer going from the stern of you boat to the dock close to the bow, a stern line and a bow line you should be able to hold your boat off the dock by shortening the springers accordingly, and adjusting the bow and stern lines to suit.
We have done it many times mostly in marinas and similar that are relatively calm.

I'm just worried about waves pushing the posts, for the safety lines, against the springers and doing some damage. Unless I bring the springers inside and out through a space between the supports.
