BandG have just released this unit that has it all.
From what can tell, all you need is two VHF antennas(or a splitter if you want to use a combined antenna), a chart plotter and this unit.

$1200
Its pricy but would be cheaper than buying seperate GPS, AIS and VHF units and has a small foot print.
I like it.

B&G are not the first to do it.

I like the concept of the B&G V60/SimradRS (looks like the same unit with a different badge?). Pricey but all-in-one
Unless I'm missing something, the GX2200E is an AIS receiver not transceiver?

This one does not transmit. The B&G one transmits and receives

I have one the whitworths ones though not a transmitter it is still very handy at half the price .we use it a lot especially offshore or in shipping areas you have a much better idea of what those moving islands are doing

B&G and Simrad are both part of Navico as I think are North Star (Navman), Hummingbird and another cheap brand.
have the standard horizon model on defiance and works quite well save for the small screen.
press the button and the new screen comes up with all the info on the ais contact you want.
there is also an ais alarm you can set.
so all In all pretty good for the price save of course it does not transmit.
VHF seems very very good btw and much better than some big name brands.
