Hi all,
Thinking about an underwater camera fixed off the stern so I can see the bottom conditions in, say, up to 8 metres. This should improve my anchoring and fishing success.
Any suggestions?
regards to all,
Allan

A permanently mounted camera? What will you be viewing off, a tablet or a plotter??

Maybe a go pro running to an iphone app?

BTW I have had three waterproof cameras and all have died due to water.. nikon. Olympus and canon. We were only ever snorkling.

Hi Toph,
I already have one of these wifi cameras ($79 @ Jaycar) and run the dedicated app on my iPad. So thought I'd make up a waterproof housing and try it out.
I posted the question mainly to see if I was at every a better alternative.

Hey Wiz, if that's underwater, you won't be able to get any kind of wireless signal to it will you?

Won't be fully submerged 2bish, just the transparent dome section (approx 50mm) of the housing will be submerged. I'll relocate the antenna so it's above the water surface....

Do some testing first. 2 weeks ago I use GoPro on Whitsunday, visibility was les than 1.5. Than I use often proper underwater camera set , wired with monitor.
unless water is crystal clear otherwise camera autofocus to closest particles.
Best underwater pics and vid. I get using Olympus Tough.
