Hi all,
I'm on a waiting list for a mooring in VIC in an area administrated by Parks VIC.
It has been suggested I am not allowed to view the list (to determine where I am on it).
I'd very much appreciate feedback, particularly from other states, whether or not mooring waiting lists can be viewed by the public.
regards to all,
Allan
seems odd , that they wont let you see that. Maybe privacy constants ? but will they tell you how far from the top or the list you are ?
the situation with moorings over this side of the bay isn't very transparent with Parks Vic handing it over to the local yacht club to administer the moorings. People hang on to them even when they are not using them and when they decide, they sell them for around $10 grand!
I'm currently renting off someone for a reasonable price, approximately the cost of maintenance and annual inspection the mooring.
I for one like transparency,it makes it harder for the "rules" to be Broken. At least in NSW you are told how many are in front of you , but they won't allow contact between those removing moorings and those waiting. Privacy reasons I was told.
Oldboy that might depend on the BSOs attitude the fella here tries to get people in touch with each other.
Good common sense from your bso there Woko, unfortunately it's not always the case, that's why it pays to keep in contact with other mooring licence holders in the area, even start a fbook group or similar.
What a waste of money and resources for someone to remove a mooring, only to have someone else put another one down in the same spot.

99% of the time the BSO has given my details to the previous owner or vice versa with both parties consent, I've also received and given away the mooring apparatus for free or a nominal cost e.g. $50 as I always service them before I put my boat on it and advise anyone buying one to get it serviced regardless of what their told.
If the BSO is doing this i'd say there is a chance something is going on e.g kickbacks from a mooring contractor and/or the BSO getting moorings for nothing by using the threat of mooring removal costs and then on selling them to new buyers this would be through a mate.
