Hi, I've searched back through the topics and found some good info on WBB,
when is slack water high?, is it at the same time as high water?
Or is there an overrun as there usually is on NSW bars
cheers
Definitely an over run also it has shifted position.
Tin Can Bay marine rescue will give you very good information on the bar if you ring them , they train on the bar quite often.
Thanks BMT, I phoned them for the good oil, they provided "reference" points that were easy to follow and they were needed as I couldn't pick out the leads, cheers
It's known as the grand daddy of all the bars , great photo getting around of a race yacht coming over it with half the boat out of the wave.
The leads are real hard to see, are you up there already?
I have a mate who is in Tin Can at the moment on his yacht , he is one of the coxens at VMR there he would love to catch up with you .
The tide times they use(which I can't remember what location they use) they say is slack water.
The time they said, was about 15 minutes later than Mooloolaba.
cheers
I'm in the straits at the moment. First solo crossing of the Wide Bay Bar. Up early to ride the tide out the other side today

Well done mate I remember my first time across wide bay , I really got it wrong .
Don't believe any one who says your home and hosed with no more swell as you go north, you can get some very steep seas with wind against tide
