To avoid drifting another thread way off course.. I agree with planter a 10ft walker bay is much better than the 8ft but its extra 2ft is a far greater bulk of boat than it might seem. My present tender is a Mike Waller pipin that I drew the transom out 400mm to end up with a 2700 ( 9ft) dinghy, which is about the sensible max length for my davits. She rows & sails beaut, but after a decade is getting a bit tired. Ideally I'd like a stylish 9footer with a stem bow and generous freeboard. Any suggestions ? And outboards I did really like my 2hp Honda but it got pinched, the epropulsion 500w looks interesting, any experiences ?

Watersnake 24lb/24In ( with full tilt mechanism ) with 25amp Lithium battery/Andersen plugs,in plastic toolbox,that sits by the transom. Just drives rough 10ft tinny,with wheels down,so better ? than oars ? . Sits in tray,inside back of wagon,after rinsing/lanolin spray .
Ideal for Kayak,but was on special at BCF,and does the job -( Watersnake $179 / Battery $300 + plugs/box )
Old Mate has 54lb unit on heavy cat dinghy, which is more than adequate
( Have full kit of Stihl Battery gear, for work = no fuel/noise/pull start of 2 stroke + carry inside vechile,as no fuel = secure ?)
EPropulsion is the next level /bestest,with integrated battery,so more compact + lighter
Also,about the same price as 2.3 Honda,without the weight/pullstart/fuel and NOISE .
I was given a 60lb eBay trolling motor a while ago & wasn't impressed as it moved the tender about rowing pace, I usually don't mind rowing as Ive only got about 150m out to my mooring, tho yesterday when I got to the dingy beach I found I'd left my keys onboard and had a vigorous and wet row back with a 20knt head wind. Just been reading about using remote aircraft props on trolling motors for improved performance
