I want to replace the forestay and two cap stays on my Farrier 24 myself. I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction for supplies of rope and terminators for synthetic rigging. It's a rotating rig so all three stays are shackled to a yoke at the top. Caps are fixed to flat bar chain plates, and forestay to a U bolt at the bottom.
I have lots of questions:
Could I use standard stainless steel sail makers thymbles (the continuous ones), or do they elongate too much? The custom made ones seem quite expensive. They also seem quite bulky to use at the top of the mast. Are there any other alternatives?
I also need terminators to fix to chain plates, so lashing rope doesn't frey. Or could I just use a shackle?
Rig tension shouldn't be an issue. It's a bit like a beach cat.
Jib is hanked on with stainless steel clips. Will these frey the forestay? Maybe I should put a cover over the Dux core?
Also any recommendations of where to buy Dux rope. Currently 1/4" stainless steel wire.
Thanks,
Steve

Hey how about supporting a forum member???
Have done rigs in dux and manufacture all the stuff you require, including all the end terminals.
Shoot me a PM.
Currently doing a 50ft ketch with Dux
