Can anybody recommend a decent surveyor in Sydney they have used ? A look in any of the directories return quite a few results.

Thanks

It depends whether you want a surveyor for an insurance renewal, or for a new purchase.

If for a new purchase, Michael Lapin (contact through Castlecrag Marine) is excellent - sellers hate him because he is so thorough, which is a good enough recommendation for me. He finds faults with structures if they are there, rather than merely reporting on whether every cabin light bulb works as some do. I've had excellent results with him.

Thanks Sydchris. It's for a purchase.

Stay away from Ron Bailey at Balmain.

I used Tony Hearder, he is a very thorough, honest and practical man.

I can only emphasize twodogs words!
Avoid Ron Bailey at all costs.

Shoddy work, rude, abrupt and tramples all over ones deck wearing filthy shoes!

Yeah I wouldn't recommend Ron Bailey, simply follows a club marine form and doesn't delve very deeply.

We used a gentlemen called Rick Mahcan, on our next survey and he was excellent, very thorough although he is based on Brisbane Waters I believe he was more than worth the cost.
