Hi Everyone,

Trust you all had a great xmas and new year.

Just wanted to advise that I found last Thursday that my dinghy had been stolen from near the reserve on Northwood Road.

the dinghy is clinker built white exterior with blue interior and has a winch mounted on the port side just forward of the middle seat.

Just thought i would put the information on here in case some one happens to notice some one selling something similar.

Unfortunately I don't have a pic.

Happy sailing in 2020.

Cheers

MrMac

This is my homemade tender a one-off and someone tried to steal it! Not like it's a production type
Sadly some people will steal anything

Talk to David Dee at the slipway. He knows everything that goes on in the bay. However, he has had the rudder stolen off his work boat!

Sorry to hear about the loss, keep an eye on the classifieds.
When replacing it consider a dinghy that looks like an absolute POS but still does its job.

A little while ago, a couple of boys tried to steal my dinghy from the mooring while we were twilighting. We confronted them and got their boat rego before they scarpered. We reported them to the Police, who did follow up and issued a warning to them.
Turns out they were kids of one of my crews co-workers. The story they gave was believable, but false. Also they worked for a local shipyard.....

one of the blokes at our club had his dingy and outboard stolen off the back of his boat, whilst he was onboard having a kip.
Turn out the thief previously stole a canadian canoe, brought that down to the moorings, paddled out, transferred himself to the dingy (walker bay), which he then took off with leaving the canoe behind..
We found the abandoned canoe later, drifting around the boats.
Who knew there were aspirational thieves with good balance?

I'm thinkingin of changing my painter to a stainless wired rope, and locking it onto the mooring strop, then it would have to be cut off to steal.
too bad if you run over it though when picking up the mooring.
