Hi all,

The timber stairs / engine cover are starting to lose part of the factory built non slip from normal wear and tear. I would prefer to patch it back to 'standard', but not sure how it was done originally. Otherwise any other alternatives?

Apologies, photo taken on iPhone as we hurried off the boat. Worn section is on middle step.

Carpet? In the companion way on a yacht? Hmm.
I would not recommend it.

Sand it back, get 1L floor varnish and two handful of dry non salty sand and presto. Two coats + sand and one top coat. Do the whole area. Looks good and lasts forever.
You are done for the next twenty years.
