Have fitted a new (reconditioned) furler.
Old furler line is too short.
I have a lot of good 6mm line and a bit of 8 mm line.
Looking at a way to splice them together.
Only thing I could find on the net was same diameter 14 mm.
My guess is that 6 mm is too fiddly to work with.
Will probably try whipping then together.
Any ideas?

When I did the endless rope for my furler I whipped the cores, then milked the join well into the cover and whipped the cover. This was on the same bit of rope though, same diameter at the join. You could pull out a couple meters of core, splice the 6mm to it then pull the core down and splice where they meet?

Just spend the bucks on some new 8mm double braid.
I use Sydney rope services delivered to your door or a rope supplier of your choice. SRS is an excellent product and great service, don't mess about spend a few dollars, you won't regret it.

You are right and that is what I would do if I could walk down the street to a chandler,
And that is what I will end up doing.
But I am in Japan and this is the rope that I have aboard. so was trying to find a work around.
There are only two rope sailboat suppliers in the whole country and both reputations on delivery times are woeful.
I will go down to the local hardware store and get some 8 mm cord and and use that till I can get my hands on some real double braid at a sane price.
Goes to show that you can never have too much spare rope aboard.

That's amazing you can't source that style of rope more easily in a country like japan, I would have had no idea that an island nation like japan you haven't got easier access sailboat hardware. Might be an opening for a new business.
Why not just use the 6mm the whole way? It's not that much harder on the hands than 8mm
