I over past months have been looking at selling my home yacht and updating. What would I update too?
I have looked at Cats , smaller yachts and larger yachts.but it Always comes back to what I have what I have put my money into so far.such a hard call And nothing seems to compare. I'm a adventurer and love to visit new places hence I like to take my mobile home with me. I think I might stick with what I have.but still open offers and change
That's just gorgeous southace, ticks all the box's in rig, size, space - love the wuss bars at the base of the mast. You'd be nuts to sell her.
Thanks I need to hear that! In my head I count the dollars. I been spending and need to spend but then I look at others for sale and I see the same if not more......maybe I'm just getting old and fussy!
Thats a beautiful yacht i would love to have one, stop looking at other boats and be grateful with what you have
(Not that I'll take my own advice, i will upgrade in the next year or 2)
This thread reminds me of the bloke that went to the Dr and said "hey Doc take a look at me Dick" so the Doc had a look and said "what do you think is wrong with it"???,,, and the Bloke said "there's nothing wrong with it,,,,, but isn't it a beauty.![]()
Here's my 2 cents worth Southace.
Think about the time, money and effort bringing your current boat up to the level she is now - customised to just how you wanted it.
As you know, this can take years and heaps of $.
Doesn't matter what you changeover to, you'll still have things to modify, add, take off, etc.
Do you want to work on your boat or work with it (sail, cruise, etc)?
Don't forget if you go bigger, handling it (especially singlehanded) could be a whole new ballgame and maybe take the joy out of it.
I regularly go through these thoughts, but always come back to the same conclusion - what I've got now is right for me.
Anyway, life's short, so unless you really want a boat to work on rather than work in maybe stick with what you've got.
You could have therapy and learn to live with it - only cost a couple of hundred and you don't have to do anything....
regards,
allan
Your boat looks amazing southace. Nice if you have the option to upgrade!
I love my boat and would go anywhere in her. Im content but im still yet to do a big trip. Maybe she'll get small fast.
Yeah I got a dose of winter blues last night. It's been blowing 25 to 33 with rain squalls all weekend.
i will plan on slipping her in March and fit the tides marine sail track over christmas. Just need the motivation back and a plan!
Southace, I think that you have made the mistake of staying too long in the one place, move to a new anchorage the new sceneary will brighten your outlook and reinvigorate your motivation, you don't have to go far just somewhere different.
they are a bit like wives there is always a better one out there but your probably better off sticking with the one you love and trust

Yes, the mistress might be tempting, but then you find out you really are better off with the one you have got.
There is one issue though, and that is the pottering urge. Once you have got your boat totally sorted, and all the mods done, there is nothing left to potter with. Maybe you should become a fleet owner and buy a small boat to potter around modifying.

Ha! The more jobs you get done, the longer the list of jobs to do gets. Tick off a major job, you will then turn your attention to 10 other things that you should/could attend to. There is no end to the cycle!
