Hey, someone in the last couple of months mentioned a shipwright and boatyard in the Broken Bay area that was good and reasonably priced but I can't find it using the search.
When I bought my boat I initially used someone in the Drummoyne area that I no longer use. The next boatyard I used was further upstream and has now closed down, sold for a housing development. So I'm zero from two. I can't afford the millionaire boatyards in Sydney because I adhere to the 10% rule: ten percent of my assets are outside of my boat! ![]()

So if anyone has experienced a trustworth, reasonable shipwright / boatyard within a day of Sydney I'd appreciate it.
I might be using Joe Walsh in Woolwich to drop the mast and assist with the rigging so I suppose I'll check out Woolwich Marina when I'm there. Any experience with them?

Hi. Give Col Cole a ring at Endeavour Marine Services located in Kogarah Bay between Captain Cook bridge and Tom Ugly bridge. I use him all the time for slipping etc and i feel he is quite reasonably priced. He and his staff are really helpful as well. Steve.

Michael Bartley at woolwich marina is definitely worth talking to, but generally not a place for owners to access.
Yes, mike_e, good question. Yes, I need to do a few things:
- have a go at rejuvinating the gelcoat using Maine Sail's method: www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/52772-tips-compound-polish-wax.html
- replace the timber rubbing strips / strakes / gunwhale all around
- patch any blisters and antifoul (shipwright to do)
At some point it could do with scraping back old antifoul but I think I'll leave that for next year and not take on too much at once. Check / Replace seacocks while out.
I've never done either of these so need to prepare well, have a yard that isn't OTT expensive, and a friendly shipwright who'll do the antifoul, seacocks and other stuff I come up with and who maybe has some good advice.

Joe Walsh has an excellent reputation. HaveFun went to school with him and can tell you all about him.
Finding a boat yard that is not going ream your wallet out is always a problem. There are people in Sydney that actually take their boats all the way up to Tin Can Bay and back again for their annual slipping and maintenance because it is a lot more economical than having it done locally.
Not wanting to sound rude mate but unless you have heaps of money over come your fear and start learning to do it yourself other wise it will be way more than you got and you still have no idea how to do things here is a great video on how to fix osmosis your self and what Cisco said is great advice the first place i can think of which will give you time on the hard is Port Stephens you will get a great sail out of it and you start to mix with real boaties

Interesting video and he has it pretty much correct. The time to dry is one point I would disagree with. Most people would be filling the same day and getting back in the water. Up to 10 coats of epoxy primer is just slightly over the top. The moisture level in the hull below the water level will never get to the same level as above the water line in that blokes lifetime!
