I was under the impression that if you leave the boat at a brokerage for sale, they should be responsible for maintaining it. Should you be required to pay for cleaning the boat, etc? I thought that was the responsibility of the broker - to keep the boat as you handed it over, clean and neat. Is it so?

The vessel owner would maintain in my view but really it comes down to what is in the contract you sign. I'm sure many brokers sell detailing packages to customers but it would most likely be an extra i.e. not covered in the commission amount.

If you are selling your house, would you expect the listing agent to clean and maintain your home?

See the BIA code of practice relevant sections..............

www.bia.org.au/documents/item/26

I haven't read them but there would a snowballs chance of them maintaining it for no extra fee as per above.........believe there is a fee for mooring / berthing the boat at the brokers premises also...........all very expected surely............

You usually have to pay for what you get in this world.
