Hi all. I left Windsor boat ramp in my Baroness 22 at the end of May. June 1 i sailed out of Broken Bay and here I am now anchored off Wathumba Creek Fraser Island. I figured I'd sail up the coast from here, but now I'm considering going over to Lady Musgrave and island hopping. What is the better option?
Regular safe anchorages, phone service for weather updates, food, water, fuel provisioning...
I'm in a Baroness 22. It has new rigging, new life lines, jack lines, deep 3rd reef in the main, new storm jib, new honda 10hp outboard, 150 miles of fuel, 80 litre water tank, 9kg rocna anchor on 8mm chain and 100m 12 mm rode, 200ah lithium battery with 220 watt solar and new 1kva honda gen set for charging (only used 4 times this trip), ais receiver, new spinlock pfd with plb, and more. Sorry for the long post. I want to be clear about what I'm sailing. In my boat is it smarter to follow the coast or island hop? I haven't had any waves over the bow or into the cockpit yet.

I don't know you or your boat but it has been done by experienced sailors in smaller craft in good weather. If not all taken, you can pick up a mooring there, you don't need to anchor. Maybe head up to Burnett Heads and assess the weather conditions once there. Lady Musgrave is art 55 N M north of there and there will almost certainly be other sailing vessels there. It would be well worthwhile if the conditions are good. If you do go, arrive in daylight as the entrance is very narrow and it will be easier to pick up a mooring. If you decide to stay along the coast, don't miss Pancake Creek a bit further up. Either way, best wishes for your journey

If you have internet connection.Simon Carter is a veteran of that coast in a trailer sailer.
He has done it pretty regularly over the years.
There are a lot of vids here so you will have to sift through.

Something I didn't know until I went there, is that Lady Elliot Island also has some public moorings on the north side. If you pay the fee the resort will let you dine and use the showers.

The mooring seemed fairly sheltered in a southerly, but dont try and swim to shore as there are currents that can wash you out.

I am currently anchored at Pancake Creek, beautiful anchorage, recommend visiting, it is a good spot to chill and relax. Did the walk to the lighthouse yesterday, had to be careful of a huge pig in the bush. We did an overnighter from Hervey Bay to here, next stop planned is Hummocky Isl. Hopefully we will get to check out Lady Musgrave on the way back down.

Simons post start 11 years ago but he hasn't posted in a year since he set off around aus by road.
Best of Youtube to answer your questions.

Thanks Fargo.
And Simon Carter's a Cracker isn't he Gary. He's likely who inspired me to take this trip. I've probably watched all his episodes. He uploaded 2 legs of his "Big Lap" and that was the last I saw of him I don't know what happened.
I'm in Bundaberg now. I'm anchored outside the marina, I've booked a berth for tomorrow and Thursday to do some maintenance, clean my act up and top up with food, fuel and water. I'll check the weather on Thursday and decide when to leave Bundaberg and which way I'll go.
