Howd, New Evo pilot is installed, and just got my ST-STNG converter, however it's and old software version. Spoke to Raymarine and they say the only way to update software is via a MFD. They gave me a number for a place that does it, and charges for it, not sure how much as no one there.
Anyone got any other ideas? Or got a MFD laying around home that could do it from a SD card?
Should of just brought a new version and not a Gum tree special... though there is no way to tell what software is on new ones either!!
Any help appreciated
whats a MFD ?
Multi Function Display
eg: Raymarine c78 chartplotter
thanks
Update, got most working, 2 different cables supplied....one must be NMEA as pin out was different, anyhow, the other cable worked and I've got wind speed, and depth data converting to the P70s/Evo1, SOG is blank..guess no data out on Instrument, and wind direction is sometimes close to ST50 instrument, other times 180degrees out... gotta love Raymarine tech....
i borrowed a converter up to the 2nd last software update and no difference from old update interms of of my issues.
Now at a lost end, will contact Raymarine however the ST50 is officially not compatible with STNG.. guess some strings missing or head unit instrument output on ST's is the issue....SOG I can live without, however wind direction when using Wind vane mode does a 360degree tack until I take stop it..
Any Raymarinese translators out there? ![]()
Hey Carbon are you connecting your st50 tridata to the st-stng converter & ensuring you only have power from one source - the blue ray marine stng connector into the converter.
When I recently updated I initially did not disconnect the original power and it played up.

Yep, cut off the 12v+ red wire from ST1 circuit, just ground and signal connected... just odd some work, and some don't.. wind direction is a black hole, might tape a piece of string/tell tail to my P70 for wind direction...
