sailing up the coast, I am getting intermittent reading on wind speed, direction is working fine. I have checked voltages on screen and yellow speed wires at the mast base junction and at the instruments. Nominal 4/5 V at mast base, but only 2-3 V at ST60
is this voltage drop normal or should I consider replacing the wires from these locations?
guess the easy thing to do is jump the wires with new cable, before the hassle of routing from front to rear?
cheers if anyone has experience on these units, help appreciated
Richard

It can be frustrating!! Just tested my anemometer now looking at the cable in the mast

Had similar symptoms recently, which in my case turned out to be a problem with the cable in the mast.
Because the anemometer itself has some internal signal conditioning electronics, it's output is proportional to wind speed over the range of approximately 2-5V, so your reading is probably ok.
An intermittent reading usually indicates an intermittent physical connection, rather than a problem with the electronics. So, the first step is to check the integrity of the connections both ends of the cable.
Once the possibility of the above connections being the cause of the problem is eliminated, the quickest next step is to disconnect the yellow wire at both ends and replace it temporarily with another.
Pm me if you'd like more detail.

Allan

Thanks Allan,
I have spent the day wiring in new TV, had pull a lot of trim off to route wiring, whilst doing this, I purchased a roll of shielded 7 core data cable, so I ran that from under the mast junction, to the instrument, this was the cable run where I had the voltage drop, will try soon and advise.
cheers Richard

Hi Richard,
You might find these links helpful forum.raymarine.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=117 & forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=97
I also have "Raymarine Short arm E22078 Long arm E22079 Windvane Service Manual.pdf" and "ST60 Digital Instruments Service Manual.pdf" which contain circuit diagrams etc, if required.

Allan
