Thought you guys might like to see the mast we are currently manufacturing.
It's for an S&S 34, going from the old deck stepped single spreader rig to a taller, keel stepped double spreader rig.
Boat is doing the Melbourne to Osaka.
This pic shows the masthead unit. Has a large backstay crane as shorter hoist but larger roach is better for IRC.
Also note grommets for kite halyards, no blocks to fail.
This pic shows how we do our spreaders. Band is only for reinforcing, there is a plate right through the mast and into each spreader. The mast is compressed with a clamp, spreaders installed then clamp released, meaning no movement in the spreaders

These are our inhouse made grommets. They have a thread and are simply locktited in. These are for the lazy jacks.
We also use them for mainsheet take offs through the boom.

Our goosenecks for vang and boom. We never weld anything directly to the mast, in fact we pretty much use metal threads where possible instead of rivets.

This rig will also have Dyneema stays. Here are the spreader tips with oversized holes for Dyneema with chafe guard.

Quality local manufacturing!!!
Nice work rumble fish. I have been toying with the idea of replacing my boom and vang with selden new boom and vang are you guys agents? If so is it a simple quote and order process? Regards southace.

My 2c, don't touch Selden rigid vangs with a 10ft pole!!
The above boat had one that was 10yo and it cost $500 to fix!!
Gas strut body is mild steel and a S/S replacement cost less than Selden were going to charge for a mild steel one!
Tgd copper swage on the wire had caused so much corrosion that there was a hole in the ally as the water sits in the bottom!!
Same goes for their single line reefing booms, have rebuilt one that was 10yo and it was shot!
We make booms and quality rigid bangs, pm me some info and I'll see if I can sort a price :)
Being an S&S34 owner can I ask which S&S34? I will be interested in following your progress.
Morning Star.
Owned by Jo Breen who won the S2H corinthian class as nav.

Dunno about that the selden vang above was fitted to our new mast about 10 years ago still going strong. The stainless bolts you have shown on your quality work don't show any durlac , washers and perhaps nylocks? I take it your going to knock the threads off and bur the threads ?

Strip your vang and you'll see what i mean!
We use tefgel type products insteadof duralac as it lasts longer, and yes we round the threads and use loctite!!
