Hi all. It's been a while since I've posted but I find myself in a sad situation possibly.
I'm looking for some info on berthing or mooring around Maroochydore.
Long story short... The ex is applying to relocate the kids to the Sunshine Coast from Tassie. That means of I'm to have decent access to them I need to relocate. I can't live aboard up there immediately (dog) so will need to rent also.
I've been looking at marina fees close to Maroochy/ Maloola... Omg compared to tassie it doesn't look good. Can any one suggest a swing mooring option or something else up that way?

Hi SemusMcgilicoty you wont get a yacht up the Maroochy river, too shallow
Maloolah river is easy to get into since they dredged the mouth. Apply for a swing mooring now. There is a waiting list, it took me about 18 months to get mine and cost $52 a year. Or you could advertise to the houses on canals with a pontoon some one might let you park it there for a small fee. There are also poles but again there is a waiting list and cost about $1000 a year. Other option is you can anchor in the duck pond for as long as you like. Ifso i would suggest getting an over sized anchor and chain.

Thank you so much for your help man. Where are these moorings and poles? i will have until Dec 2019 to get it but am fearful it could end up the kids or the boat situation. So gut wrenching...![]()

duck pond?
I think he means in the river just north of Mooloolah Island at anchor. He's right, you will need a really good anchor and chain to hold in the silt. I had a really good set up on Now&zen, but found it very difficult to get it to hold - even in calm conditions.
Sorry to hear about the kid thing, been through it myself, good luck.
For the mooring ring qld maritime on 07 36327536 or 07 36327500
Not sure who looks after the poles i think it was the local harbour master, qld maritime will know who to contact
Duck pond is not to bad. I've had a boat there for over a year and it dragged once for about 30 metres and got a call from habour master to come and check it, he's a nice fella and keeps an eye on everyone's boat
Getting on the waiting list!!!! Thanks to Crusoe's Number!!!!
Thanks for the help from all of you.
Cheers!
