There has been a rash of boats, bargain priced, needing work, coming up in the last couple of weeks around Sydney.
One example: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/rushcutters-bay/sail-boats/halvorsen-30-yacht/1218154318?ea=3759555&utm_source=trigger&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=saved_search
I am wondering if this is due to the RMS sending out letters to people about the condition of their boats.
A common theme, is an elderly owner who has not been able to do work on the boat for a while.
I mean, there's always a good trade in mooring minders, but I think you're right - seems to be a few more quality boats come up.
That one in particular sounds a bargain on the face of it, though lord knows what the insides or bottom of it looks like. Windvane's probably worth almost half that price alone, let alone if the sails are any good.
There's also this Endeavour 24 being literally given away! https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darling-point/sail-boats/endevour-24-yacht-free/1218171615
If only there were similar pressures on boat gear!
Hmmm...makes you wonder doesn't it?
These three appeared on Gumtree last night within hours of each other. 2 in Woodford Bay on the Lane Cove River and 1 just around the corner not far away in Glades Bay. I wonder if the RMS crackdown has anything to with it.https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sydney-city/sail-boats/compass-28-yacht/1217584515

Here's the official word from RMS www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/moorings/mooring-audits/index.html
Interesting dot point to note on there:
Mooring audits - Moorings - Maritime - Roads and Maritime Services register non-compliant vessels and alert potential buyers to any outstanding mooring issues when transferring ownership
