My first yacht was a Javelin that I had in 1976. Plywood hull with timber mast and boom and no bow sprit back then. The boom was quite flexible with three pulleys along it for the main sheet. The flex in the boom pulled the belly out of the main sail.
I learnt a lot from that boat. Good to see the class is still strong.
