After a 2 year hiatus from work and life, while I work out what I can and can't do (emphysema is a right self-inflicted bastard) I decided to get back on the water and bought a Red Witch, 6mths rego, Mercury outboard, tidy unit, needs its bum cleaned, $500....
So let the cash fly free from my wallet while my partner biffs me round the back of my head..

In pic 3 there are two rings (that look like sections of boom extrusion) connected to the end of the boom.
What are they?

I would expect those to be mountings so that the spinnaker pole can be carried alongside the boom as is often seen on skiffs.

So the spin pole can exit the boat at high speed during a gybe cause the ocky strap attached to the beak breaks........

congrats on your new boat!
You may have already seen it, but there's an older post by Stuman92 titled Red Witch Build which has appeared again.
Has a wealth of info and pics, plus heaps of fantastic advice from other members. Took me an hour or two to get through it all, but well worth the read I reckon.
Where do you have her moored? Looks like Berrys Bay, not far from me if you need a hand working on her.
After buying the boat unseen I got on board today and it's just like the photos clean and dry, couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
And to answer the question of the 'hoops on the boom'
Yes there's a spinnaker pole waiting to impale some poor bugger.
AzureF305...it's on the owners mooring for the next few days, Shell Cove I think it is
and yes Stumans threads a great read, a very handy reference.
