I just bought a keel boat and I'd prefer to have it moored south of Wollongong. Greenwell or Orient Point is where I'd prefer.
Who may have an open mooring available?

What sort of boat? We are a bit particular here! Best bet is to give the local boating officer a call and have a chat. Depending on the size of your vessel he might have something available. Otherwise it will be the usual applying for a new mooring and finding a contractor to install it. There is no waiting list but there may be a delay getting a contractor. Getting a reliable contractor is also a problem. New mooring dragged a few days ago and two expensive clipper type motor cruisers banged into each other!
I run a facebook page for the local yachts "Greenwell Point Yachts". Just scroll down the time line and check out the photos and you should find any info you need. The local BO uses the page too.
I second what Ramona wrote. Also consider Shoalhaven Heads. Nice sheltered location with minimal tidal current to deal with. The Comerong Island Punt cable has to be avoided at low tide in fresh to strong NE at low tide though. It does take an hour to get out via the Crookhaven River, however as I live Shellhabour my boat is only 30 min drive away compared with 1 hour 20 to Greenwell Point or JB.

There is a spot available at Orient point where a steelie sank and was recovered a couple of weeks back. Ask the BO about it.
