It has come to pass that my prior text 17/12/22 as below on mooring pick up poles is not fully valid - great apologies. Based on 200mm diameter polystyrene foam float the 1/2 float water displaced volume mass is 2kg. The 700mm length below is not valid. I have just re-jigged my mooring pole bought 2nd hand back then with no weight (!!!........focusing on other issues till now including slipping and diesel upgrade and pushpit/stanchions/lifelines has lead to ~2 1/2 years prevaricating around the bush..........) with 1.3m pole above the top of the float and 1.16m pole below the underside of the float - so 1.16m from underside the float to underside of lead mass attached to lower end of pole. It works well. Found old fishing sinker solidified molten lead cylinder in tin can in the shed - ground off the rusted can and secured it to conduit with spotted gum plug (3m 5200 and 4x 8g 1/2" self taper securing) and eye bolt - Taskmasters 316ss M7.8x150x14. Yes the eye bolt thread is same as 5/16" bsw nut - rang Taskmasters to check if this was the case and the very pleasant bloke was not able to answer - go figure....... Note eye bolt lengths seem to be not stated as per normal bolt lengths from under the head - rather under the inside of the eye upper end..........never knew that.............but it seems some oems give all dimensions, others nearly nothing and vague...........
