Howdy folks, Having just purchased the 35ft yacht "Gelignite" a couple of weeks ago, the mooring itself has decided that it has had enough and snapped during the winds today. Luckily the folks over at NSW maritime watched it sail past their window with the yellow mooring ball attached and have rescued it before any damage occurred - which I'm incredibly grateful for :)
I'm looking to get the mooring repaired/replaced over at Taren point. Does anyone have any recommendations for people they've used in the area.
I was hoping that my first post would be slightly more positive.... but the next one should be :) I hope so anyway!
Yes NSW Maritime have a very good team out of Kogarah Bay.
Well done on your purchase - Gelignite is a great yacht. We have had top shelf service from SMB;

Look forward to your next posts - with that yacht you should get the most out of it and join BBYC and race as well as use it for cruising. But what is your mast height above the water - hopefully less than ~16m to clear the bridge - albeit where it was moored suspect not.............

Thanks for the feedback, I suspect it is slightly over 16m, but haven't got the dimensions yet - the very nice chap I spoke to from Maritime told me that when the mooring is complete to move it back at dead low tide - it *just* sneaks under captain cook bridge.. but I'll be thinking low thoughts.
Not exactly an ideal start to ownership, but it could have been soo much worse.
She needs a fair amount of work inside and out, once the engine is running again (hopefully tomorrow) I'll be slipping her to redo antifoul and install some through holes/sensors. With any luck in a month or 3 she will be ready to use properly.
She was a bad decision :) but I fell in love with the history and decided to make the rest work - so far my only regret is not booking a mooring service the day I bought her.
She is in Kogarah bay on one of the emergency moors - and I'll be working on her tomorrow from around 10 if anyone wants a bo peep ![]()
