Thumbs Up

Decided to go for a sail today instead of vegetating at home. Went out around Old Woman Island and back, plenty of black clouds but nice wind and had a really good sail. Went out just after low tide and came back in around 4.20pm around 2 & 1/2 hours later. On approaching the entrance on return we noticed another similar sail boat we had passed earlier waiting around near the entrance for a good 10 mins or so and wondered if he was in trouble or something.
On getting nearer we realised he was waiting to enter due to the swell we could now see sweeping across the channel. He went in and got thrown about a bit and we followed soon after. I didn't realise how big the swell was until we were in it and decided to speed up and keep going but it was pretty hairy for a while there
I would say we were in around 3 meter swells almost beam on there until we got through but the old Cavalier handled it no problem.
It was such a difference from when we went out as there was virtually no swell then. And then once we got through and were heading to the leads we looked back and there was almost no swell again... It just shows how quickly things can change and is another lesson learnt for us
Merry Xmas!
