I finally got to use my very old mizzen staysail for the first time. Light winds we went from3.5 knots to 4.5. I was happy definatly worth experimenting with
A knots pretty good. Is that just both the staysails or have you got the mizzen up ?
I was reaching with the jib ,reeled main( broken halyard winch ) and the mizzen . It definatly needed a full main up so I rigged up the staysail from the chain plate to the top of the mizzen mast and worked it by using a sheet looped around the rear hand rail . I will now put perminant attachment points in I think . I was surprised by the result I must say.
It might be a good thing in a round about way that your main halyard winch failed, otherwise maybe the staysail might of stayed in the locker. I've got one sort of in the process of being rigged and your experience is very encouraging
