Anyone have a old Merlin II celestial calculator that they are not using and want to sell. Would prefer it in working condition. Its the Merlin II 1248 model, not the older model.
I just discovered that my old one has saltwater damage that has eaten something internally and its a bin job.
I know that you can get apps that can do thee same thing. I just prefer it because I know how to use it.

I have used one and also had a hp41cx with the navpak which cost over $500 when i bought it. But the 41cx calculator got written off by leaky batteries. I now use a hp41cx emulator app (about $10) on my phone and downloaded the navpak free from the hp museum and it works flawlessly so give that a go.
Boat books in Sydney used to reprogram the Merlin 2 if the program memory was lost so give them a call to see if it is still supported.

Thanks, I will consider a phone APP at some stage. I just know the Merlin II very well. Mike Pepperday the inventor of the Merlin II is still around and retired in Port Macquarie and can still load the Merlin II's program if needed. His partner at that time started Boatbooks many years ago. There is also a TI89 program available from the US which is another option.
I also found a free PC application called AstraNav from a local software Author. Its called AstralNav.

Thanks for the input
Thanks for the Astralnav info, very interesting. Also good to hear Mike is available to reprogram the Merlin.
I grew very familiar with the HP41 through my career in surveying and still use it regularly on my phone. Most people shy away from RPN calculators.
Hope you manage to track one down.
