I have just watched the MSB put a large pink sticker on an old boat near me.
Does anyone know specifically what it means?
I believe it is notice to remove it. I suppose they will either destroy it or sell depending on what the value is. I saw them going around putting them on all the boats that washed up on the shore with the recent storm.
Fines of 5 units PER DAY after a time of usually one week or less or removal.
A UNIT IS $110 ![]()

I've had one of these for being on an abandon mooring!
We just went an anchored for 28 days before being chased again, luckily we sold the boat on the 28th Day!

Chap next to mine had half of Cronulla's marine life attached to his and got one too. Had it cleaned up and back there again in a week. No more Maritime dramas. I don't think it's been sailed in last couple years though.
I've seen them a couple of times on clearly abandoned boats. If you go up and look on them, they usually have the reason marked on there - generally that they're not in a seaworthy state, but also that they're on the wrong mooring if there's been a complaint from the owner.
Am absolutely all for it. Nothing annoys me more than seeing some absolute reef of a boat that's never being used taking up a mooring space that someone who actually wants to use a boat could take. The amount of work and chances the BSOs have to go through to get rid of them beggars belief.
My neighbour had one on his timber 46 footer. When they towed it away to a jetty it sunk on them in minutes. ![]()

It was a disgrace and an eyesore for years.
Good riddance!![]()
In NSW the owner pays, one who had 5 wrecks paid $66,000 in fines and removal costs.
I heard that QLD had allocated 77Mil for their cleanup, don't know if owners had to pay

Local boating officer reckons they have a fund which covers all the costs. They try to find the owner [how hard can it be]. Wait out the time then lift the boats on to the hard. Wait 3 months for the owner to claim the boat. They never do, then the contractor strips and sells off all the good bits to his mates. So the taxpayer pays.
Well the final costs are in for the bloke in NSW who had 5 wrecks scattered around the state with the bill for the 50' yacht
he had sunk in the Camden Haven Inlet docks.
Previously he was fined with court cost of $66,000 for four boats.
He has now collected the bill, fines and court costs, for the Camden Haven Inlet yacht which amounted to $43,000
So they are chasing him for $109,000 for the sunk yachts he owned ![]()
