Same app two separate iPads showing more or less info. The original iPad app shows all the data for each vessel, the new white iPad with the new app shows a lot more vessels and to get vessel info I have to pay $1.50 per hit? Any Ideas? I guess nothing is for free these days!

Is the second one ScoMo's? ![]()
Classic ! I hope he's sunken by day's end!
But, seriously, isn't the difference that one screen shows all the AIS signals close to the coast and detectable by VHF while the second screen shows also the ones that would be visible if you had a satellite signal?
I'm sure someone on here will know. They are mostly geniuses and we would be better off with them in Canberra. Except then they would be unable to comment on on-water matters, of course. ![]()

Or arguably is the first one Electricity Bill's and the boats are starting to come already.
I think the truth is people release these free apps and over time once your addicted they put charge on it, like tobacco and rum!

Yeah, and $1.50 for a short period of info on a single boat is outrageous!
Imagine using it to follow a SYDNEY/HOBART....
Just fired up the tablet and had a look and no one is asking me to pay anything to look at boats, I get name, heading, where from and where to the same applies for my phone, it's all there to be looked at the same as it always has.
Just updated the marine watch app on my old iPad as I didn't have Sat data in the options, now I have more ships but have to pay $1.50 to view each ship! Grrrrrrr
i see now it's only the Sat layered ships that needs payment to view, and it apears there are no VHF repeater towers in my current area.
