Help needed! I am planning to add a self tacking jib to my boat. Sail area will be about 42 2m.
I need an idea of the working load on the clew so that I can spec the car and single block with becket.
Any informed advice welcomed?

Try here, but boat size / weight is also going to need to come into the equation sometime.

Thanks morningsun. That calculator shows about 800kg which would be fine, but the self tacker block angle is 180 degrees back to the becket and then about 110 up the mast.
Good start. Thanks
