Long time lurker who's finally decided to join up to this forum, I've been living in Sydney for over a year now and prior to moving here I have never sailed, some of the guys I work with have boats and I've been out a few times with them as well as been sailing for a team building day, I've been looking at learning to sail courses and just wondered if anyone has any recommendations? The pipe dream is to learn to sail and buy a boat capable of overseas trips. I would appreciate any recommendations.

I learnt with allsail at church point. Keelboat course. Had about 5 or 6 sessions of tutoring on different vessels and then a few intense races. Was all I needed to build confidence to get a trailer sailer as a first boat.

Compared to owning a boat, sailing lessons are a bargain.

Interesting, that was one of the leaflets I had from the boat show in Sydney a few weeks ago, I think they had a sailing lesson at a ridiculously low price but I never booked once. I've also been looking at East Sail.

Hi SydneyDan

Probably worth asking on this forum if any of the Sydney based sailors need crew and you might find someone who is happy to take you out as well

I would suggest that you haunt your local sailing club, they are always looking for crew so it is the perfect inexpensive way to get into sailing, then take a course as you feel you need it.
Cheers.

PM me if you want to go for a sail. I'm at Drummoyne, near the sailing club.

Thanks Don,

I've just seen MorningBird's post too so I've sent a message.

Cheers,

Dan
