Obviously this is dire. On Botany Bay while Sat arvo racing a few years ago a few vermin on jetskis harassed us - they started with stopping right in front of our long upwind course and after we hailed them to hiss off they did so and came back immediately with close in zoom turns to spray the whole boat with their wash. A ring leader led the pack like hyenas and a few followed. Then they went back to shore. We couldn't get a video or catch their rego but went to the local RMS office to report it and I am not sure what they did but we have not had such an event since. Possibly they had a post attack wash up on shore and realised what jerks they made of themselves. Windsurfers out of Kurnell have had the same behaviour a few years ago - a lady windsurfer having a rest on her board having repeated high speed doughnuts inflicted on her. She asked them to cease and go away but the response was "if you don't like this you shouldn't be out here". In the years since I have seen various news reports of police action at boat ramps after incidents - which is greatly appreciated. The question still remains what is in these vermin's heads to do this in the first place?
Had a similar event by a passing jet ski taking a short cut through the mooring field, I was in the dinghy painting the topsides, after the swearing I rang the local bso, who rang the police upstream. Jet skis are fast but as quoted from the blues brothers not as fast as Motorola
I've been hit 4 times by jet skis while diving. Twice while working and twice while spearfishing and each time I had a very obvious float and large flag very close by. Each time resulted in a yelling match blaming me (until my 2.4 metre speargun was raised). I have very little respect for these blowflies of the ocean.
We were harassed one time by a jetski while coming into Brisbane Waters. We were at Half Tide Rocks which is challenging at the best of times when this moron on his jetski decided to do donuts in front of us then come up close behind us to try and splash us. After suggesting he go forth and multiply, I took photos of his rego, we radioed Marine Watch and contacted Waterways to report the jerk.
