Can't wait for the Route de Rhum., only 37 days till kick off. The guys have had enough time to iron out the stage 1 kinks of the foils in the Vendee.
This is going to be awesome.

This was a great video from Alex Thompson in the last Vendee demonstrating how loud these foillers are.
They now have noise cancelling headphones as a must have in their sailing kit :)
Turn up the volume and enjoy!

Thanks 2bish, good find!
How the hell the control system is good enough to stop the bow just massively pitching in is beyond me.
Is it right that the lift for the bow is all from the foils horizontal component? I often wonder what keep them level fore/aft wise. Is it the angle to the water level, or is it gyro level?
It's pretty amazing however it works.

SandS,
I would have said I'm too old for that $%^t, but then you see the average age of a lot of the guys, they're not that young!

Man that looks like a fast ride doesn't it. I don't think they have any control system for the foils, do they? I don't remember them talking about that aspect on the Vendee versions anyway. It looks like the foils are forward of the center of gravity and the boat is "flying" between that point and where the hull comes in contact with the water at the aft quarter. I don't think there's any horizontal lifting foil on the rudder or anything? So either it's going fast enough to fly or it reverts straight back to displacement mode.
