hey guys, about to move on to our Jarkan 10.5 centre cockpit. She's 6 tonne, does anyone have an idea of what is a safe amount of weight to have on board? Obviously less rather than more, but as she is a home now too..!?! Cheers
Just make sure you plan where you load stuff.
Its worth trying to keep heavy stuff down low and towards the centre of the boat. Keep an eye on fore n aft trim and try to avoid loading up the forward cabin with heavy gear.
i have lived aboard a similar design to the Jarken and found that you could change the trim of the boat quite easily by shifting heavy items like spare chain or tools around the boat.
There is probably not enough storage space to overload the boat to a point where it becomes a safety issue but heavier will be slower and a lot of weight up high will adversely affect stability.
Thanks for that. Have evened it out as much as i can, will just need to offload some blankets and books when we go cruising i guess!
