Hi folks,

i've been reading the pearls of wisdom contained in this forum for a year or so now, so thought it might be time to introduce myself, & start joining in on the fun.

& so, without further adu.... my name is Steve, I'm 50 years old, & have lived in glorious Melbourne my whole life.

i'm quite new to everything sailing, having only commenced learning in the second half of 2018.

My future plans are to keep doing crewing/helming/skippering courses on Port Phillip Bay, pay off our mortgage, & then save up to buy a 1970's/80's classic.

After that, I plan to single hand non-stop circumnavigate around Tasmania, then Australia, & then the world!!!

Nah, I expect i'll be happy pottering around the bay with my wife, or occasionally by myself.

i'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the future, but in the meantime... hello all!

Hi Smog. Welcome to the forum. You being a young bloke can remind us what it's like to clamber over
the decks without a dicky knee.

Welcome to Seabreeze Smog.
PPB is a nice and big place to sail, and so too is the Gippsland lakes without tides.
You may find doing lots of courses to add up in price, though some are essential. Buying an older yacht up to $20k will then give you plenty of practice as you explore your bay or lakes, and later do sime coastal trips.
Drop by for a weekend of sailing if you like.
