Hi guys
My ignition is a bit dicky locks up and wont turn then turns and starts,
I was thinking of an after market 3 stage ignition or would i have to buy the proper volvo one.
The motor is a 2003 volvo 3 cylinder 28 hp
Thanks
Is the switch outside in the cockpit or inside out of the weather?
If inside you can simply use a toggle switch for ignition on/off
and a push switch for start.

If outside you can buy an ignition key switch and replace the faulty one.

There is no reason to use a Volvo replacement. It is a standard ignition switch after all.
Gary
Ive got a VP 2003 28hp as well. A big plus of the electrics is there is nothing special or "hitech". Its all simple 12V switches and relays. I replaced ignition key and the lot with a big push button from a lathe that operates the small relay that operates the starter motor. If you need schematic you can get on the Net or I can send you a copy.
Thanks Guys
will get an aftermarket key switch.
Looked at the drawing online and am now not sure how many poles on rear i should have, is there where the taco engine hours instrument light buzzer etc connect not sure
cheers
As Gary mentions theres a spot on the panel for a smaller switch which on my panel is an alternately opening/closing latching push button. The 12V+ supply goes first to that. Then from that to the starter push button, warning lights and tacho. That way if that switch isnt on nothing has power.
