Most likely there is not symmetry between the reading time of the stations with South channel having a delay.
Looking at the synoptic a front went through earlier so the reading was right before the start of the front with the other stations just as it went through.
That explains the reversal of direction as well
Cheers
Just saw this discrepancy after looking at my boat on Blairgowrie web cam. It's still reading North East at South Ch Is and my boat is hanging off the mooring in the exact opposite direction. As the crow flies, the distance from my mooring to South Channel Island is 3.2 NM so the reading is 180% out. If it was blowing 32 KN Northerly, Cameron's Bight would not look like this.

Yes that's what I figured. Must have a screw loose and the 40 Kn winds have blown it inside out and back the front. That's the most scientific explanation I can come up with. ![]()
The whole weather station was off-line a couple of weeks ago. Someone forgot to tighten the screws - or just blown to bits. The station at the Prom has had a fair old work-out though!
As of 10.30 tonight South Channel Island is again off line. I went out there a few weeks ago on my boat. There are a hell of a lot of seagulls nesting there, hundreds and they all take flight as you walk around the island. I wouldn't be surprised if they cause a bit of damage as I have seen them perching on the equipement frame.
