its ok to use a non staining silicone type lube around your boat on things like zippers, blocks, sail slides and shackles.

Wish I had used some sort of corrosion protection on the 6hp outboard cover I bought less than 2 years ago for outboard hung off the transom of moored yacht......the whole lot completely out of the water.....the zipper slider was metal and the rest was plastic............obviously the slider corroded up and went south, it seized up completely..............why would anyone put a metal slider on an outboard cover.................I hit it with Inox and CorrosionX but no dice it was gone............surely some company has made an outboard cover with all plastic parts by now............certainly agree my bad in not Inoxing the slider from day 1 and continuing it monthly..........

Have found wd40 leaves a mark if you get it on boom bags etc.
the trick is a small amount in the right place.

If anyone is wondering why this post, its because most of the time when i go to work on a boat everything is dry tight and hard to operate due to a lack of lubrication.

Ive got this one, and in an aerosol as well. Use it for lots of stuff from zips to mast track slugs and the travelers. Haven't had any problems with staining. A little goes a long way.
If you want to go 'dry', this is good too. Both available at W**tworths.

Thanks for clarification of the background to the post Stray......................

Have had excellent service out of this for spraying on mainsail bolt ropes and up mast mainsail luff tracks to ease friction;

Of course just like there are "oils ain't oils" there are lubes and lubes........ok sorry showing age but please get the lube for your application..........and if you need a standing rigging corrosion protection product get that as in CorrosionX
