Has anyone been into Grassy recently? We've got all the guides, but inside knowledge is always useful.
We were wondering about procedures for booking a mooring & availability, facilities ashore, ease of getting to Currie/around the island .
We assume that there is good telstra coverage there for much pondering over weather apps.
Any tips gratefully received. Favourite cheese related activities particularly interesting!
Cheers

maybe check with Ocean racing victoria , they will have the good oil on that stuff . I know they have a race to there coming up soon .
Google King Island Boat Club and call their number for helpful advice. You can arrange a mooring, you can (in 2015) also anchor in the far N corner of the harbour (you must be way clear of the freight ship's turning circle).
When I was there about 4 years ago, there was a basic but ok loo/shower ashore but nothing else. Mobile coverage was good, there is no public transport, but the rental car people will deliver a car to the harbour (you can book as you sail down), otherwise a long slog uphill walk to Grassy town for supplies, water at the harbour wharf.
As I always say to anyone going to cruise in Bass Strait, buy the CYAV's "Cruising Victoria" book, which is a fantastic resource for that eponymous activity, covering all of Bass Strait. RYCT's "Cruising Tasmania" book is also good.
Cheers, Graeme
