Out sailing last Tuesday when I noticed a tall mast 500 metres behind
coming through that narrow part of the Broardwater at low tide toward Jacobs Well. See below.
I kept an eye out behind and sure enough the skipper did not veer to starboard after passing the last green marker and got stuck.
I dropped sail and went back . Could not help till he got off sandbank
(I'm 20ft. She was 40+) . which happened after large motor cruiser flashed past creating decent wave and skipper gunned motor in reverse as yacht rose . Once he got off I guided him to the channel and deeper water.
Following that I contacted the GCW and received a prompt reply an extract of which follows.
"Thank you for taking the time to send us your email about the shoaling. I've checked with our program manager and am pleased to say that funding has already been allocated for dredging of the area in July 2020. In the meantime, I'll ask our operations team to check on the positions for the beacons and also to erect warning signs, to highlight the shoals for masters operating in the area."

Well done BB!!
A 20 footer coming to the aid of a 40 footer is impressive.

Good on you BB,
Can you send the GCW guys up to Moreton Bay for a few weeks?
I promise I'll return them.
Agree with Cisco, the image of a little Sonata standing by a 40' is just cool.

Ha ,I now want a bigger boat now Cisco . No way Shaggy just think what would happen if Current Gov't got wind of them. There'd be a committee formed to think about it before nothing was done.

Passed through above channel today. GCW were good to their word in under two weeks and erected warning signs. Now if only they had wacked on a couple of arrows.
