Can someone enlighten me on the correct procedure to lube the shaft via the grease caps, I'm guessing you just push some grease inside the cap and screw it on?

Yep you're onto it. I recently went online looking for a kit for the 1" finspray and there's excellent info available, drawings, flow rates etc as well as parts including the grease caps

Next question lol, the pump is new and is now leaking so how often does it need grease and do I fill the cap with grease and screw it down hard, does that force the grease around the bearing? I can't find any info online

The one I have has plain bearing areas and packing like a stern gland and can be adjusted in the same manner

Used to have one of these excellent pumps on a Van de Stadt Black Soo Petter diesel early 80s. Assume these are the dwgs Woko mentions? Which model is your pump?

Suggest call RWB the agent they are very good

or wbmarine - also very good

You mention "lube the shaft" so it is assumed that the inboard shaft side seal is leaking not the outboard impeller cover and gasket. So you have 2 grease caps for the bearings and one shaft nut and gland as per Woko. Seems like his is pre 2012. If yours is new assume it is a lot later than that. Both have the shaft lip seal upgrade kit available as per above links. If yours is new and leaking it is either not set up right or damaged? No shaft bend or bow? Have to be careful not to over grease the bearings this can cause bearing over heat and seal damage.

Fynspray pumps are made in Auckland - tried to find them but couldn't.

Yeah mine is the newer version, there was no clear instructions on using the grease caps other than "grease well" before use, and like you mentioned using too much grease not good (I had that in the back of my mind for some reason) I've put about 20 hours on it and it's just started leaking from the gland nut, I hope I haven't damaged it by not putting enough grease in it, I pumped a ton in it today and it stopped for a bit then started again.
I'll take it apart tomorrow and have a look, hopefully it's just the seal and I haven't damaged the bearings although the bearings have nothing to do with leaking? I have no idea

I seen the upgrade kits and I wonder if the gland seal is different to mine, the one I bought also only has a flat part on the shaft that a bolt through the pulley presses on, no key which I don't like, I put loctite on the bolt but still not comfortable without a key, maybe I should get the upgrade kit which has a replacement shaft with pulley key

Yes it's the gland nut seal which you need to have set up properly to address the leaking - albeit the whole pump needs to be set up properly obviously. Trust you get to the root cause of the leak. How much is the leak in drips per minute?

Believe this is the Fynspray pump manufacturer - you could call or email them?

Sorry I missed your 2nd post

Yes would be good to identify what gland seal you have. For such a small pump with relatively low torque the set screw onto the shaft flat should be ok as long as the set screw is torqued up appropriately and is locating right down perpendicular to the shaft flat. Loctite 243 on the set screw as you say. I guess the instructions you have don't indicate set screw torque to use...........perhaps ask whitestarproducts when you contact them.

Suggest persevere with the seal etc and get the whole pump set up correctly including bearing lube before going to the upgrade kit?

Good idea I'll give them a ring Monday morning and see what they say, the leak is maybe 3 drips per second, but seems worse when motoring and then the belt is making it spray around. This is my first boat with an inboard diesel so I'm still learning the ropes
