Thought I would share some pics of an Explorer 16 I have just finished renovating.
It looks great in the original blue pictures. But the hull gelcoat was powdery, the grey on the deck was too hot to stand on and it leaked everywhere. The bolts holding on the gunwale had pulled into the hull from the inside. So I drilled them out and filled with thickened epoxy then screwed the new gunwales on so there was no protrusions into the cabin. The existing windows leaked. So new perspex was fitted. Cabin door frame was rotted. The U bolt for the winch had rusted and snapped inside the hull, so I couldn't see it. Lucky I decided to change it!
The old trailer was under sized. So had to buy a new one after spending months looking for a decent second hand one. Bloody thing cost as much as the boat!
So a much bigger job than I thought.
& bought a second hand Epropulsion Spirit One.
Cheers.

Well Done !! Looks better than new + you know all about it .
Also, good to see renovations done in the right environment ie; in a shed . The size/scale of the project is manageable, and not intimidating,as should not find anything catastrophic, that cannot be fixed . They were built to last !!
Had an18ft DeHavilland Rambler, that I should have kept/ renovated, but did not have access to a good shed . Was not going to be a success working under a tree .
Hope to see you on the Lake ?

Valo, great effort and thanks for the pics. I hope you enjoyed the journey.
"Bloody [trailer] cost as much as the boat! "
Which confirms my impressions that when you buy a trailer-sailer, you're really paying for a trailer that happens to have a boat sitting on it.
"So a much bigger job than I thought."
Right on trend for any boat-work. You were wise enough not to go for something bigger, that might never have got finished.
"bought a second hand Epropulsion Spirit One."
Cool. Should be "big enough" (whatever that is) for a 16ft TS, but would be most interested to hear about your experiences when you get it on the water.
Achenar.
Got on the water on Friday.
Furler swivel failed and the main rope on the foot of the sail pulled out of the boom for the last quarter.
So pulled the sails down and motored around.
Set it at 3 watts and averaged 3.5knots for 2hrs and battery said 2.5hrs left. So very happy with it.
