Hi guys I'm looking for a diesel mechanic who could come out to a mooring to look at my engine. The throttle seems to be stuck on and I have to crack the injectors just to shut it down throttle controls are disconnected but it's won't shut or idle down with the throttle on the engine.

cheers for any advice or info in advance !!

Sounds to me like the fuel pump rack governor is stuck.

If that's the case the pump usually needs to be removed to free it.,,,may depend on what type of engine though.

If its going to happen, it usually happens to a motor that has sat with out starting for a long period

more info required what type of eng , does the eng respond to the lever movement, has it got a electric shut of or a Manuel shut of,is the throttle lever moving . or is it stuck,if it moves is there spring pressure with the movement, does the eng race to a high idle or just low idle, if it is at low idle does it stall when shifted in to gear .if you can give some more answers , i can advise the best way for you

The engine is a nanni 10 hp diesel, manual shutoff, throttle lever is still moving freely but revs high as soon as it starts ,has been running fine up to this point the only thing I did do was disconnect the throttle cable and try to manually use it when in gear, somewhere along the line it has stuck on high revs.
cheers

this is not good the governor is stuck you will need a diesel guy to look at this if you have a Manuel it will ex plane the process for the repair . it really is quite simple to check ,make sure there is no broken springs and the rack moves freely, no rust or carbon build up pm me if you need help and will give you my number if you can,t get someone to help.
