Wash down with Oxalic acid.
Oxalic acid is the go buy it from bunnings made by diggers if you cant find it in the powder form it is an active agent in wood or deck restorers.
Pour it on hit it with the broom hose it off
+1 for Oxalic acid. I use it a bit on my boat where currently there is a bird issue. Just remember it is an acid so wear shoes. It won't give you blisters but you will certainly know you have been standing in something

I actually broke the boat broom getting it all off (1hr).
Off to Bunnings for oxalic acid tomorrow!
Nappysand would probably work too. It has similar ingredients to oxalic acid. It was suggested to me to as an atnernative to deck restorer and it did a great job on the timber deck.
If there is a few days of constant rain I'll go down to boat and scrub it. Bird poop seems to be soft and easily removed after constant rain. A few hours of hot sun will reverse it so I scrub before it stops raining.
Whilst I read that its super effective - I just read how dangerous oxalic acid is (damages internal organ/joints), not sure wanna go splashing that around just for some discoloration.
Any other safe on human and in water suggestions?

There is no need to get it on your skin etc although I scrub with it with bare hands. On the deck or hull use a soft broom, stiff brush for the trouble spots. Use warm water with the acid and use on a warm day for the best effect. I also use "Metal Gleam" on fibreglass and paintwork and stainless steel. This is a phosphoric acid mixture that works the same as oxalic acid. Stings a bit if you have cuts on your fingers. Just wear eye protection or have plenty of water handy. CLR or vinegar are other less effective alternates.
Metal Gleam is the best but I mentioned oxalic acid because it's probably safer and easier to use.

I had a quick search for the youtube video of the seagull jumping the Gullsweep. It's a classic but could not find it to share.
