Anyone have details of their Cavalier 28 folding prop?
My boat has the Bukh 10hp engine, shaft drive. Currently has a 2 blade Gori prop which seems underpitched.

Are you sure the prop blades are dead clean?

You say you are under pitched which means you are over reving. If the prop was dirty you would not be achieving full revs similar to being over pitched. Are you achieving revs or not achieving revs?

With a two blade folder with just a bit of shell its easy to get full rpm and just not go anywhere! They have to be clean. This yacht has a Bukh 10 so it's not new and the two blade folder is probably a similar pitch to mine. The blades don't have much surface area.

Yes two blade on our Cav 30 (which is exactly the same as the 28 but with a sugar scoop glued on the back).

Ours is matched to a newer 18hp WM Diesel (a Kubota).

Goes nicely, No complaints apart from general vibration.

Pic enclosed. Does it look like this?

Even at the end of last season with it looking fairly crusty it seemed to work fine.

Ed.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. Yes the prop and hull clean, recently slipped. Prop is in good condition. The engine revs out easily leading me to believe the prop is under pitched.

There is very little blade area! As long as you can get 4 to 5 knots at about 3/4 throttle I would not worry too much.
