I am looking at getting back into sailboats, we had a Cole 23 some 20 years ago, which we got a lot of use from sailing around Syd harbour. prior to kids. We spent just about every second weekend sleeping on board. We even managed to do that with all three kids until it became too hard.

I have been thinking of a Catalina 320 or a Cavalier 37. My budget is up to $85 for the right boat. We are planing on sailing around the harbour & up to Ptitwater and if we get confident enough might even take it up to the Whitsundays one day??

Basically we would like a boat that is comfortable to spend weekends on and even have friends or the kids (they are adults now), as well as the option of sailing up the coast.
Any input is most welcome.
Thanks

If you decide to go Cavalier my friends 37 footer is for sale in Pittwater, great boat, well looked after and
just about everything that opens and shuts including full cockpit covers and clears.

In my opinion the Cavalier is much the better boat and the 37 will have much more volume than the Catalina 32.
Or you could buy my S&S34, similar volume as the Catalina but far better offshore boat.
