Depends on the wind direction. That's why Captain Arthur Philip decided to take the First Fleet round to Port Jackson. I fancy Frenchmans Bay, but others might have more experience.

The below article is from 2005 but is still valid, well written by a tinnie skipper. As per Yara Philip and Cook didn't go to Port Jackson for no good reason - in numerous places of Botany Bay the depth is plurry shallow..............

The below text is from the article............

In the benign weather, there are fishing boats dotted all over the bay and many floats attached to crab traps. It should be noted, however, that the combination of shallow water, strong winds and run-out tides can be lethal in Botany Bay. Treat the bay like the open ocean. Carry all the safety gear, including lifejackets, and you'll be fine.

Obviously agree depends on the wind direction but also obviously your yachts draft. If you have a fixed keeler suggest keep way way out from Quibray Bay and other shallow areas - get an up to date chart and keep your depth sounder on permanently including alarm...........if you have a centreboarder or swing keeler make sure the raise system works properly on demand.

Of course a lunch anchor in the bay in fine weather is a sublime experience and should result in some fish for the pan depending on the tide..........

I sail the bay all the time.
If you want resturant/ takeaway Frenchmans bay would be the first choice. You could also anchor off Brighton there is also a takeaway at Kurnell and Yarra bay sailing club has both a resturant and takeaway .
The best place (cleanest water and sheltered from all but the south ) for an onboard lunch is Little Congywong but it is also a nudist beach.
