For sure on that Hood - I mean, it's obviously been looked after well, but...yeh.

Similar vein - a Magic 25 that's been given teak deaks, canting keel, the whole box & dice. $29k. yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/magic-25-canting-keel/243713 Not gonna happen buddy.

Famous yacht and well fitted out but no chance. I was fooling about on the local Brolga 33 bloke had paid 20 grand for last week. The teak interior was superb.

If someone wants a certain kind of boat bad enough , they could pay anything for it . Its the way of the world .

Hi all

Perhaps the male owners are saying to their wives

I did what you said and put the boat up for sale but I am not getting any phone calls

Regards Don

Has his wife told him he must sell his boat?

Cripes we're a bunch of grim reapers eh.........probably a sign of the times.....

So we have a topic for "cheap boats for sale" (yeah which I launched after a suggestion to do so in order to differentiate such entries from "interesting boats for sale" - it has had 2 boats entered so far and looks like it will end there....unless every free boat gets listed)............as was suggested defining "cheap" could be the challenge......imho cheap in this context is a very good value for the money boat which is still serviceable to fix up over (say) up to 5 weekends of solid and focused work for one bloke and then go sailing. There are hundreds of yachts on moorings out there in this category.

I have done this with two Santana22s over the years, one an insurance write off and needing a new mast and sails which I cut down both from an Etchells, and the other a neglected old soul which had slipped its mooring and gone up on a beach but was sound - just had to shovel out a lot of sand............and ok I would now put a max of $5k on boats in this topic...

And also one for "never going to get the asking price".

So should we now start one for "hey that looks about the right value, that's a good deal right there" or does that sound too much like a recent house mortgage loan rate advert from that Jacobson bloke who was in Kenny 2006, Oddball 2015 and Charlie and Boots 2009...............

Seems like good bang for the buck to me, and if I were after a quick daysailor I'd be tempted.... If I were wealthy it'd be tempting just to have as a toy. She's had $120k spent on her, so you'd assume everything works, and she doesn't need a big crew to get out and enjoy.

I'm curious as to what price people would have put these boats on the market for - not the price you would buy them for!

Just search out other examples on yachthub, boatpoint and Gumtree etc and price them similar. The tricky part is to actually get people to look at your boat that's for sale. If it's 3 times what the market is then there will be very few tyre kickers!

the buy price of the boat is pretty immaterial the real cost is what you pay after all the work is done to bring her up to ocean capable re rig new sails engine refit new electrics tidy up interior exterior . even if doing all the labour yourself you will get a shock at the price .that hood if in good nick could still be a cheap boat

If I was cashed up I would consider making an offer on this one. It's what I have been looking for!!

And we had a local Brolga 33 sell last year for less than 10k regularly sailed but let go for a couple of years, I was looking at it sitting at the marina, looked great!

Don't get me wrong, the Magic is a cool boat, but that's waaaay over the asking price for one of them. For that sort of dollars, you're starting to talk about getting a much bigger, sportier boat.
